Please join us for the first installment in Innovate Pasadena’s Big Ideas Series of talks with leading entrepreneurs, creatives and other thought-leaders held at locations around Pasadena.
Julie Schoenfeld will join Alex Maleki to discuss how a serial entrepreneur navigates funding and team building, what the future holds for autonomous vehicles, and how Pasadena and LA are poised to become the leader in developing companies in the hard sciences. Julie is the Vice President of General Motors Cruise Automation.

Speakers

Julie Schoenfeld, Vice President, General Motors Cruise Automation
Julie Schoenfeld is a serial entrepreneur with a passion for identifying talent and assembling effective teams. Her most recent company, Strobe Inc., was acquired by General Motors, Cruise Automation and is building groundbreaking LiDAR sensor technology for the self-driving car.
Julie was formerly CEO of Perfect Market, Inc., a digital publishing software company backed by Trinity Ventures, Idealab and Comcast. Perfect Market was acquired by Taboola in July 2104. Julie also served as CEO and founder for two other successful venture-backed start-ups. In 1999 she led the sale of Net Effect, Inc., for over $300M to Ask.
Julie is a recognized industry thought leader and has presented at conferences such as The Milken Global Conference, TechCrunch Disrupt, Business Insider Ignition and AdMonsters. She serves on the board of Protégé LLC and has been named on Digital LA’s list of Top 50 Digital Women. National Association of Women Business Owners in Los Angeles acknowledged Julie with the prestigious “Innovator of the Year” award.
Julie holds a B.S. in engineering from Tufts University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Alex Maleki, Vice President, Business Development, Idealab
Prior to joining Idealab in 2008, Alex worked at two venture-backed startups focused on enterprise software and services (Net Effect, Mobile Automation), both of which were acquired. He holds a B.A. from UCSB, a J.D. from Southwestern University, and serves as the President of the Board of Logsdon School, a Board Member of Innovate Pasadena, and an Advisory Board Member of STEAM:CODERS.
